	46. RUSS FILBECK SIDE CHAIR

Master chair maker Russell Filbeck made this three-slat side chair especially for the Winter Weekend. The Appalachian ladder-back chair is 39 inches tall with a 19 x 20-inch seat. The seat is made from the woven inner bark of a hickory tree and is the same material President Carter uses in his ladder-back chairs. The slats are engraved with the Carter Center motto, "Waging Peace, Fighting Disease, Building Hope." Filbeck formerly taught woodworking at Palomar College in San Diego and is the author of "Making Ladder Back Chairs With Russ Filbeck," for which President Carter wrote the foreword.

79.	REPLICA OF PRESIDENT CARTER’S ROCKING CHAIR

Master chair maker Russell Filbeck made this replica of an Appalachian-style ladder-back rocking chair especially for the Winter Weekend. The cherry, six-slat rocking chair is 44 inches tall, 26 inches wide, and 44 inches deep and is a reproduction of one that Filbeck made for President Carter. The hickory bark seat is woven in a herringbone pattern and finished with four coats of oil and paste wax. The slats are engraved with the Carter Center's motto, "Waging Peace, Fighting Disease, Building Hope." Filbeck is the author of "Making Ladder Back Chairs With Russ Filbeck," for which President Carter wrote the foreword.

The 2012 Carter Center annual Winter Weekend fund raising auction will be held at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California.

It will be held from March 7th through 11th, 2012.

I will be creating another replica of President Carter's personal rocker and along with several other items, this curly maple arm chair will be on the auction block.
